Makin’ It Real

I’m not some sentimental lady
to be judged & criticized
fractionalized & mute

I hope some may find delight
with a tale or two
defined & refined by maturity
I come as a stranger to reality
in its unpolished form
malleable by designing hands

I’ve walked the depths of Hell
& Heaven too
as real as real can be

I strung along without an option
‘til I emerged, still smelling like a rose
and I trust I’ve turned out okay
battling ogres along the way
