Something to be Proud of – by Robert Gardner

An imaginary king with an origami crown,
I danced with a rooster in a ballroom gown,
Then dined with the ghost of the first great Czar,
T
hen locked bad dreams in the trunk of my car,
Then took a long walk in the noonday sun –
By the time I returned to check out the fun,
To pop the latch with a well-aimed gun,
Just to make sure those dreams were done –
They were cooked like sausage
Links on the moon
By the radiation of the Non-Baboon,
Who seeks to cleanse our poisoned nest,
Where techno-cannibals did their best
To murder the promise of the golden West.
