To Be Free

When the circus came to town
you let me down
making me your clown

Finding a mountain too high to climb
with the lift out of order for a ride
I stepped aside

Left out in the cold I sought relief
and clinging to my beliefs
I climbed a nearby tree

I came across a falcon’s nest
where I stopped to rest
hiding from my inner beast

With only bread and water
I journeyed farther
to be rescued by the holy father
