Suppress My Doubts

I’ve got X-ray eyes for you
punctuated with a smile of approval
But with a turn of your head you dismiss me
as a flake, an unholy, or simply a fake
wearing another’s crown jewels

I can feed your curiosity a healthy meal
if you’ll expose your soul to me
Let me in where life is sweeter
than any poem I can create for you
& truth-be-told I’m covered in honey-like glue

I suppress my doubts
but they all come bouncing back unannounced
to restrain me from taking rash actions
or assisting the opposition
in my eventual defeat
